Five marketing tactics to undertake in January

January is the perfect time to reboot your marketing efforts, to get your owner-managed, growing business on the right track for a successful year to come. But it can be difficult to know which tactics to use, and which will work best for your company’s needs. This is exactly when the team at LCM Marketing can prove invaluable.

We work in marketing for owner-managers and partners across a variety of industries every day, week, month and year, so we have a good understanding of which tactics will work for which situations, and we are very aware of those which are just passing trends. Here are five of the key marketing approaches you should definitely be taking during January:

Focus on authentic, valuable content

The trend for your customers to value content and an authentic voice rather than any kind of paid for advertising, is not going away and will only grow more true in 2019. Now is the time to develop your content plan for the year, to make sure you have plenty of material to share with your customers, offering them a meaningful experience and valuable relationship with your firm.

Be creative to stand out from the crowd

In this day and age lots of your competitors will be churning out the same sort of thing as each other, and so tactics become familiar and boring very quickly and customers become blind to them. For 2019 you need to do something different to stand out from the crowd – work with a creative marketing agency - it's our job to help generate new and engaging ideas.

Work on your business internally

This third point might sound like it doesn’t relate to marketing, but you should never forget that your staff are key marketers and brand ambassadors for your business. It's vital that you keep your team engaged, happy and empowered, whether they are employees, distributors or both.So make sure they see your marketing messages before the rest of the world and they'll be more ready and willing to go out there and do a great job of marketing your business for you.

Adapt your communications to suit your customers

The way we communicate with each other changes almost daily, so while it can feel overwhelming trying to work out which is the best social media or best app or whatever it might be, it is important to know how your customers like to be communicated with, and to adapt your strategy to make sure you reach them.

Focus on customer service and authenticity

With so many processes becoming automated and machine-led, it can become increasingly difficult to actually interact with a real person. Make your business stand out by ensuring your customer service always has an authentic human feel about it as well. We have all experienced the frustration of not being able to reach a real person on the phone – make sure your customers don’t feel the same about you.

These are just five key areas of marketing which you should be incorporating into your plan for 2019 but if you need professional advice or support, please do get in touch with the team here at LCM Marketing.

All businesses want to optimise revenue. Your business strategy will identify ways of driving revenue; your marketing team will generate awareness and leads; your sales team looks at the most effective ways of converting leads to sales, and then your customer service helps to keep customers buying. Another key factor to consider is your brand.

If someone you trusted said to you, “I think we should rebrand”, what would be your first thought? Maybe panic, fear and an overwhelming feeling of not knowing where to even begin? You are not alone. A rebrand can seem like a mammoth task and one that you may think you just don’t have the time for, but you might be missing a trick.

From a young age we grow up immersed at Christmas in a fairy tale world of elves, reindeers and sleighs, and the ubiquitous image of a man in a red suit squeezing himself down our chimneys. As adults we still get excited about the magic of Christmas, the hope it brings and the joy of being a part of something magical.
